A brief disclosure: I like Instagram, a lot. I likes squares and nice photography and every pink-toned filter under the sun. I believe that – as with most things – Instagram is fantastic when consumed in moderation.

Thus, now is a good time to mention that this piece is part research, part opinion, and part ice-cream-fueled confusion by a wordy part-time novelist. It is highly recommended to proceed with caution, and a grain of salt.
